When those windows and doors are opened and closed, friction surfaces knock old paint loose, dropping dust on horizontal surfaces like the sill, trough, and the floor below. If you’re concerned about lead paint, you should keep these surfaces clean using the practices we’ve illustrated in this video. DO NOT just use a conventional vacuum cleaner on these areas! A conventional vacuum will stir up dangerous lead dust, and can actually spread it throughout your home.
